Friday Specials Hair Ties and Gardening Clogs

Friday Specials Hair Ties and Gardening Clogs

Dear lovely folks who read this ~ we appreciate you coming along for our journey, one of slow stitching, eco-sourcing, and making life just a little bit more gentle.

This week, we are looking at the origin of the HAIR scrunchie, although now I think we might start calling them hair ties. It seems more fitting that the name of the items we sell is a beautiful piece of fabric to tie around your hair. They uplift your hairstyle and your spirits as you go about your daily chores.

The scrunchie was invented by Rommy Hunt Revson in the late 1960s, a former singer and pianist who wanted a gentler alternative to the metal hair ties she so disliked. She created the first prototype while house-sitting in the Hamptons, inspired by the design of the elastic waistband on her sweatpants! She named the hair accessory 'Scunci' after her pet poodle, although the name 'scunchie' eventually became more popular.

We love tying ours in our buns as we go about the day. These scrumptious ties don't harm your hair and feel lovely on, especially good when gardening... our favourite other pastime... do see in the pic of my favourite gardening shoes the Gardener Clog from @strawlondon, who are about to take preorders... get over there and get yourself a pair, once you've bought a scrunchie of course ~

Wishing you a Happy Friday

Love Ness
